Math Curriculum~
Fall River Joint Unified is actively reviewing new math curricula to strengthen our instructional programs. Team BES and Team FRE attended a workshop at Shasta County Office of Education in Redding yesterday, exploring options and refining our adoption process.
We’ll gather feedback from teachers, parents, and students before piloting top choices next fall. This collaborative approach ensures we select resources that best meet our students’ needs and support teacher success.

This Saturday! Sign up by calling or visiting the office!

We are safe, respectful and responsible!

Big Buddies! The Big Buddy program at Burney Elementary pairs older students with younger ones for weekly mentorship and skill-building fun. Older students act as Big Buddies, guiding their Little Buddies in learning and friendship to build school spirit.

100th Day of School 1-30-26! Spirit Day!
Mark your calendars for our 100th Day of School celebration! Dress as if you’re 100 years old—think canes, bifocals, shawls, and wild white hair for the ultimate granny/grandpa glow-up. Students and staff channeling their inner centenarians will earn spirit points and prime photo ops—let’s make day 100 a hilarious history lesson in aging gracefully!
Alternative Idea~
• Attach 100 items (cotton balls, pom-poms, or googly eyes) to your shirt for a “Count to 100” masterpiece.

Burney Elementary wants to push the boundaries of TK – 6th Grade education by harnessing the power of high impact actions and strategies to advance learning and teaching.
TK: Our TK play-based program gives young learners the chance to grow through exploration, imagination, and hands-on experiences. Students build early academic skills as they talk, build, draw, and pretend together, turning games and centers into powerful learning moments. Through this kind of play, children practice sharing, problem solving, and self-regulation, helping them gain confidence and independence as they get ready for kindergarten.
KINDER: Burney Elementary’s Kindergarten sparks joy in learning for five-year-olds. Our Kinders explore reading, math, and science through group discussions, creative arts, and hands-on challenges that foster curiosity and resilience. In this dynamic program, students collaborate daily, building strong social skills and a love for school that sets them up for lifelong success.
